Office 2000 works best in Win98SE and XP Home. Office 2002 runs better in XP Professional; because the service packs convert Office 2000 into Word 2002 with bugs. So if like I did, you then reinstall 2000 to get rid of the bugs, the reinstallation conflicts with the updates.
